I'm 16.. and my mixes are shit HELP

For all that are bashin on this kid.. Lets hear your demo from when you were 16  I remember what mine sounded like, and this kids on a good start (although apparently you have much better christmas than I had hehe). Don't let people discourage you. Now while this is a competitive industry and to even be considered remotely good you have to be willing to put in more time then the next guy and go the extra mile. But music is about feel and expression. Dont ever forget that. All the sneap presets and superior drummer midi patters in the world dont match up to a well reheresed solid band with solid songs that you can get behind.. although having a great mix behind that is important. Dont get to caught up in the 1's and 0's. Just do what makes your head move. Fuck the rest

486 50Mhz, 8 Megs of Ram, 320 Meg Harddrive.. Windows 3.1 hehehe I don't miss it.

+1

Ignore the bashing dude, I started when I was 15 and I got heavy bashing as well :D I'm almost 17 now and thanks to this forum I've improved a lot from what I used to be like

I would avoid using presets to much, and reading up on the old threads here, there are some very useful tips and shit you can find if you look through them :)

wow
your band really sucks.

but you are the next scott burns so it's all cool. im feeling that guitar tone

+1 Go for it man, you've got nothing but time on your side nice to see finally people helping, nothing positive ever came from just bashing peeps dreams take your time read, practice, read, practice, read some more practice loads more everybody starts somewhere perseverance is key and there will be the odd day when you break things, kick the dog, scream at the top of your voice 'I FUCKING HATE MUSIC' and 'WHY CANT YOUR FUCKING DRUMMER PLAY IN TIME' and 'I SAID NEW FUCKING STRINGS YOU TWAT' and 'YES I CAN QUANTISE BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN JUST PLAY SLOPPY', so there'll be the odd day when you wish you'd bought a sawn off to hold at sloppy musicians, but it will be also the most rewarding feeling when you get a mix your truly happy with, oh and try out demo's of as many different daw's as you can to get a grip on which most suits your style/workflow, peace and best of luck.

Thank you dude! So much. This forum has really improved my tone a lot in the past couple days. I went from a flat, muddy tone.. To a rich, full distortion! ALL FROM READING AND LISTENING TO WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY!

Everyone on here has something good/helpful to say. Even the dudes who put me down, I know they're good guys probably, haha. And yes, I have nothing but time, which is great, I want to learn everything I can. oh damn, I was laughing for like 5 minutes over here over those quotes in your thread lmao.

@GarethSE, haha the band i'm in?!?! SCREW YOU!! PREGRESSIVE METAL FOR LIFE!

@onquel, no dude, you're a beast, i've heard your shit
