I didnt mean to stomp on anyone. I was trying to relate to Cobch that he might want to try other cabs. And I threw in a short mix I did through my XXX cab. His XXX head and the JSX head are very similar beasts. But I did record the rythm guitar in stereo with a slight delay (3 mics). My bad I should have used only one 57 on it. So the tone is not exactly what came from the XXX cab. Getting back to the tube screamer. Mine was not used much after I got the JSX head. I didnt need it. I used it with my EpiJr some, but found my Boss GT8 could produce the same effect and had many others available. So I ebayed it and my Ibenez Tube King. I dont play in a band, so I never play live. So I can rely on recording techniques to beef up a certain sound I need or plug in my GT8. I can see where the Screamer can do good for alot of amps and players. Its a personal taiste. My tube screamer was obsolete. Sorry if I angered anyone. PS, Unavailable, I love the pic. If you ever venture to Ohio, stop by my studio, and you can show me the proper way. :)
 
I don't know if you can get 5150/6505 tones from that amp. The TXXX is its own monster. You might have better luck getting Rectifier tones from it. Def. put a TS in front but don't use the gain knob. Just use balance and tone. Also, I agree with Everybody's X on the EL34's. They will really make that amp growl. I traded mine in for a "XSr". But I had it for about a year and a half before that.

Try:
Crunch Channel
gain: @ 9 or 10 o'clock ( with TS )
bottom: @ 1 o'clock
body: @ 10 o'clock
edge: @ 11 o'clock
damping switch set to loose or medium

P.S. little trick I learned: crank up the volume on the distortion channel that you are not currently using to give more of an edge to your tone. (works the same on a JSX)

Wait...what? As in, if you're using the Ultra channel, cranking the crunch gain will make a difference?

Don't be a pussy, mic the cab, what's this Impulse shite, what the hell are they, where do I get them, how do I use them, what is a free plugin, I'm new here where's the link to the ftp, what the hell is between-1, what the hell is BCAE-half, wtf is this all about, do I use the Line out or effect send, who the hell is fredman and where can I find him, does my amp work in standby, they are too boomy maybe the twat that made them did something wrong, do I need a hotplate, will I damage my tubes, what happens if I plug my EMG equipped guitar into my amps line out, is my SM57 enough load for my amp instead of a cab, it's just a speaker in reverse isn't it?
