Finally, I've broken free of the grip of BWP, and have begun to enjoy all that Opeth has to offer.

I burned an MP3 CD with every album on it, now there is no excuse. All Opeth on that one CD. Last night, I listened to the following tracks : In Mist She Was Standing, The Amen Corner, Demon Of The Fall, Karma, and Black Rose Immortal. Holy Shit!!!!! And I made my judgement that this was the best band ever just by listening to BWP.

Amazing. Emotional. Deep. Fantastic. Unfuckingbelievable!!

Now I listen to songs at random, from different albums.

Early comments: I think the production on BWP is better (so far) than the other albums. Yes they've progressed through their 5 albums, but each album brings its own amazement to the table. Pretty soon, a question of your favorite Opeth song will be unanswerable. Once you have all Opeth under your belt, you just can't narrow a favorite down.

same with me, it took me ages to start listening to all of MAYH, i would listen to a few songs off the album, but never the whole album too much, but awhile ago i started playing the whole album to the end, i always get caught up in BWP, i was humming Bleak to myself for ages last week. so i went to my room to do work, and thought, im just putting the beggining of bleak on, then do work, and of course you all know what happened next...i listened to the whole thing.

I don't know why i listened to MAYH over and over again, when I didn't like it most of the time  (when I first got into Opeth) but i did and now I'm glad.

But I don't think playing them on random is a good idea - you'll miss out on loads. But welcome to the world of Opeth outside BWP, I hope you enjoy your stay :err:

I like to absorb Opeth listening from Orchid through to Blackwater Park...IMO there is no better pleasure...purrr

Anyone more than me who think that the ending Riff on Karma is one of the most fantastic things Opeth has done? :)

I love the way they build it up, building the drums up by switching cymbals to crashes.. And then the growling.. :)

Man, are they fantastic..

Certainly not! Don't be ridiculous man! ;) The closing of Karma is phenomenal...among many others as well.

Nah...I love just hitting random once and while. I like hearing the album in order and I know what to expect every time a song ends now, but... :err: I like the variety of random play. Sure, ya feel a little "jipped" when the next song doesn't play, but that wears off the moment the music starts up again.

For me anyway...

what you mean, Metalmancpa. I was listening to Still Life, over and over and over, then all of sudden I got an urge to hear Demon of the Fall and started listening to MAYH over and over and over...I am there, man.

And btw Jo - lol! Where do you come up with that stuff? Too funny.

I have a five disc cd-changer, so I obviously load it up with Opeth's albums and listen to them all. OH NO!! When there next album comes out I am going to need a seven disc cd-changer.

It's about time you listen to the better 4 albums.:D

I've got every Opeth album except BWP...from which I've only heard a sample (The Drapery Falls) and that was a year ago...
have I missed something? :err:
