I'm with you. The Canary Islands did it 20 years ago or so but still cockfighting is allowed in the Canaries.
Now there are other "parties" with bulls involved in Catalonia and Spain that weren't banned like putting fire artifacts attached to the bull's horns, "bull to the sea", and so on. The excuse to this is that they're typical ancient traditions, so the very same argument the pro-bullfighting's are holding against the ban. It's obvious the other bulls don't die in the process but they're severely hurt and wounded. Definetely not a constructive tradition for our youngers.
San Fermín with the bulls runnings is the only one with bulls that seems to remain some dignity on it, but then, I don't really know much about it. Is it considered torture for anybody out there? Don't think so.
