Impulses

Hey guys,

Ive noticed a lot of you talking about impulses. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE! All your clips sound amazing! Is there a program I need? What do I do and how do I do it? If you could tell me, or send me a link to a thread, it would be much appreciated!

In a short way: they are wave files that contain the frequency response for any take; for example, if you record a wave through a poweramp/cabinet/mic and with digital processing compare the original wave with the recorded one, you'll get a difference, and you'll be able to save it in a wave file, containing the response of a cab with some mic.

This is the way we emulate cabinets more reallistically

I tried search function and thought it would be easier than sifting through all the threads for an hour.

So I still need to know how to execute this in a recording. I have a Krank Rev. so I just take the send to a d.i. box to my interface, use a plugin (which one?) and thats it?

Every f. thread regarding impulses explain the same thing...how you can execute impulses.

Ok, got it. Thanks. Another question though. I have a Krank Rev. When I do line out, I should have my cab plugged in right? Will this still produce sound out of the cab? And should I hook up the line out to a d.i.? Sorry for all the questions, I just dont want my amp to blow up.

Cab plugged or dummy load plugged.
Or no cab plugged and standby turned on (with master at 0, because if you take the signal from fx send, the power section is bybassed)
