In Search For I

yeah, as for now I wouldn't go as far as saying it is WAY better than Clayman, but I think it has the potential to be slightly better than Clayman which is my fav. modern IF album...

Since I listen to Slipknot as a matter of fact (hell, i own all 3 of their albums), i am in a far more credible position than all you Slipknot haters to decide what sounds like them.... and F(r)iend definately doesn't sound like Slipknot. End of Story.
I like Slipknot. F(r)iend sounds like Slipknot. Its okay Its not the end of the world here. I still like In Flames and I still like Soilwork.

Clayman is my fav too. It can't be close because Clayman had a great production and their new production style is sort of sloppy sounding.

I think the production on this is leaps and bounds over R2R's production. Its actually pretty crisp. Its no where near Clayman's in my opinion though. Clayman itself is just a masterpiece of Fredman production.

and yeah, i don't like the production either.... RTR was muddy, but the guitars were for the most part loud and up front.... here they sound fuzzy and just lack power to me....or maybe not... hell, i really can't put my finger on it. oh well.

odd, I found R2Rs guitars to be buried in many parts, especially the leads. Lead harmonies that could very well have been traditional In Flames seemed very low in the mix and not as prevalent as on say "Swim" or something. I'd mainly be talking about the title track and songs like Dark Signs and Trigger.

Yeah, I agree....Clayman has one of the most awesome production jobs ever. That album sounds so incredibly tight (whether you like the songs or not).

The new one sounds a good bit better than Reroute, but nowhere near Clayman

Well I happen to like Slipknot and I can't really hear any similarity between F(r)iend and Slipknot songs. It's really awesome song. The promo doesn't give a good picture of the whole album... (well I haven't DL:d the whole album yet...) more updates as soon as I get the whole album =)

the production is pretty weak. The drums sound slightly better and the leads sound better but the rhythm guitar tone is still pathetic. F(r)iend is a decent song until the chorus. Anders' screams during this part sound a lot like "nu metal" screams and not the screams we're used to from him.

I think In Flames made this song to prove to all the assholes that wont leave them alone about their older shit, that they can still do all the old melodic work that they used to.

Good song.

About the production, given that it was in a house in a studio that they built, they're still probably working on getting the sound they're looking for. I agree that it's definitely not up to say, Clayman status, but it's something they can work on in their own studio for albums to come.
