Industrial sounds/atmosphere

reFX nexus

Nexus is damn good for synths, arpeggios and choir/orchestra stuff, but it's not all that good for creating industrial/weird ambiences. It only has a handful of such patches.

You're best off with creating loops and samples yourself. As mentioned earlier here, movie DVDs are excellent for that. Be careful though with copyrights etc, don't use stuff as-is -- and frankly the most fun thing is mangling the bejesus out of the source material and creating something of your own :) That's how all the industrial greats do their songs, more than you would believe. There's only a few actual synths being used most of the time. The great majority of the material in the songs are made from samples and loops.

I just wanted to add that on the new sybreed album there is a synth that comes from toxic III for sure... almost the same as a preset.

If you want to get more out of Absynth and don't know how to program synths well, you should check out the presets/soundbanks/samples that Camel Audio sells... Biolabs Absynth Research volumes and Starscape Absynth sounds...... they include some insanely good stuff for ambient/atmospheric sounds.
