Inexpensive Mic Preamp?

Can anyone recommend a fairly inexpensive mic preamp? I'm primarily recording guitars, but it would be nice if it would sound decent for vocals, too.

i agree with Gnash on that. those things look very versatile with the variable impedance knob.

I don't think mine has variable imp. I think that's the MPA. The pro chan has a pre comp and eq for $300. Havn't found a better deal yet.

ah it is the MPA, for some reason i thought you were talking about the MPA pro. Still a great piece of hardware.

I have a pair of ART Tube MPs that cost $40 a piece... put on another $8 for a Tesla 12AX7 to replace the stock tube and you're set for under $50 if that's your price range. Also look at the M-Audio DMP-2 and DMP-3 (one and two channels, respectively) if you have a bigger price range.

Presonus stuff is generally good too. Go try your ears on some stuff

250 per channel x2. thats really cheap for the quality and versatility imho.
