anyone know or could see what they used on the studio episode to get that dist sound ?

I've watched the videos and I'm interested as well. I may have been able to see what was being used better if my eyes hadn't been blinded by Daniel's nakedness.

it looked like a combo of 2 pedals, i can't remember the exact combo. it's in one of the episodes. an MXR bass pedal, i don't know it's name. and something else. of course who know's if that's actually what we're hearing, it could be something else they decided on later.

MXR bass DI, really agressive distortion. We have one in the studio. From what I've tried with this pedal, you can go for two different sounds, you can :
- plug it between the bass and your amp, and use it very slightly, just to get this "oil thing" going into the highs (think the album Arrows from STONEGARD, or the last Tool).
- plug it between the bass and your amp, and use it with gain around 12 o'clock, removing some highs on the EQ, to get an agressive like hell distorting (think a guitar dist). Then with another EQ, keep only the "300 Hz to 2 Khz" band, and boost the 700-800 Hz growl. Think Meshuggah, In Flames...

I have an audio extract where we used this pedal, more corresponding to the first case I described :

Gallien-Krueger bass amp and cab, Gibson bass and C414 mic in front of the amp into an API pre.

If I have seen it right, they used a MXR Dimebag Distortion Pedal for bass, too.
Not sure though but I think I saw that camouflage design on a pedal.

Episode 6 is uploaded on there myspace page and the show the Dimebag Distortion at one place, but I think they used it in combination with some other stuff like you could see in Episode 4.
