Inspiration behind Magic Never Dies?

I've recently started reading The Banned and the Banished series by James Clemens, and I was wondering if the song Magic Never Dies was in any way inspired by it. It might just be they have very similar things, but the bit about the last of the mages conjuring a spell that would live forever, and centuries going by and the stories dying out seem to appear in both the song and the book. So I was just wondering if the band have read these novels, and whether or not they drew inspiration from it? Cheers

Powerful spells that live forever counjoured by the last of the mages/wizards is a pretty strong fantasy image, and there are probabily many examples of this all over the fantasy world in books/games/films etc.

That's a good point. It just struck me that this book really reminded me of the song. Ah well.....it's a killer book anyway, I highly reccommend it.
