So my instrument input clips on the lowest gain on both my EMG equipped 6 string and my D-Activator equipped 7 string. Apparently I can either build a pad for the instrument input: http://music-electronics-forum.com/attachments/16448d1323927545-interfacepad.gif or buy a DI box for the line input. I have a Focusrite Saffire (orignial white one) and would be spending up to £40 on the DI box. Which would give me better quality, and if it is the DI box, which would you recommend?

countryman 85 for quality (if you want tone colouration) but if you just want pads for avoiding clipping signal ART DI box or samson does the job

my 0.02 cent

A JB is hotter than 81/85. Unless your picking hand is a pussy.... FYI

Most interfaces will suffer this problem (clipping) in my experience. A direct box is your best bet I think, unless you're planning on adding outboard gear with a DI input in the near future.

Countryman seems widely accepted. I have Radial, Whirlwind, and a couple of cheap transformer DI boxes. All work well, no worries.

Please and THANK YOU!
