Am I the first person ever to notice the similarity between the first verse of Into The Pit and Poe's poem The City in the Sea?
Poem lyrics of The City in the Sea by Edgar Allan Poe.
"Lo! Death has reared himself a throne
In a strange city lying alone
Far down within the dim West,
Where the good and the bad and the worst and the best
Have gone to their eternal rest."
Compare to Into The Pit:
"Deep in the pit and lying alone
Where death has reared itself a throne
We're all the good, the bad
The worst and the best
And where they land is their eternal rest"
I noticed this reading Poe about a year ago, but I just googled Poe, Testament and "Into The Pit" and no-one else seemes to have commented on this ever in the entire history of the internet...
