Now wouldn't that have been awesome? Too bad that Edgar-fella has bought
the farm already. I'm a little too late here. Missed him, just barely, with
approx. 180 years. :)

Anyway, I'm just rambling - but seriously - here's my idea: What if Opeth would
compose some of Edgar Allan Poe's works? Like "Dream-land" or "The Raven"
for example! Wouldn't that kickass?!

Just hava look:
By a route obscure and lonely,
Haunted by ill angels only,
Where an Eidolon, named Night,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
From an ultimate dim Thule —
From a wild weird clime that lieth, sublime,
Out of Space — out of Time.

This text above was taken from the poem "Dream-land" and is just one
example of suitable lyrics for Opeth. Of cuze, when you read this poem try to
imagine the melodies and moods of Demon of the fall, Ghost of perdition or
The grand conjuration or something. :)

Tell me what you think - and add more examples and poem suggestions by
our lost friend Mr. Poe.

I agree, and more so... since Thule is the old mythological name for Sweden!!!

I'm surprised none of you know who Kenneth Grant is.....he's a badass poet who started an occult society in the UK.....I just got his poetry book in today....i made a thread, but noone's posted on it cause they don't know what the fuck i'm talkin about

edit: this is from one of Poe's short stories, fall of the house of usher.....I really like this line a lot, really dark and gothic, "His long improvised dirges will ring forever in my ears."

I think.. that is, think.. there was some band that made an album of Poe's works put to music.. I'm quite certain, in fact.. I went through a Poe-obsessive phase when I did a project on him in like yr. 8.. and I recall something.. Google it people, Google it..

Peter Hammill has recorded a "rock-opera" (not in the horrible sense of the word, but rather an attempt to describe the style) of The Fall of the House of Usher in the nineties. A great album! Very dark and one of his best works musically.
