It actually got dropped frOm the mix again, so no clips, sorry.
It was not a bad sound, quite nice actually, but it just doesn't have the cut and brutality of some other amps.
And it's suffering from the englitis as well (sterile sounding amps that get hyped by all the 17 year old kids).
The invader is one if the better engls though and it's really fun to play it on ch3.
But believe me, the 5150III pissed all over the invader and then takes a dump on it (at least if you're not playing just by yourself in your bedroom)

Can't stand invaders. If the people I know that own them weren't so arrogant about them then i probably wouldn't hate them so much. It's an amp, a tool. I hate guitarists that are like 'this is hands down the greatest amp, for every application, ever'. Every invader owner I know is like this.

Well, hi then.
I like my Invader because the sound works well for me. Actually I only use channel 3 though (and only for rhythm), the rest I do with a BOSS GT10 in 4CM method, including leads... somehow can't get the Invader to do a leadsound like I want it.
Should I ever find another amp better suited to me I'd probably get rid of the Invader. Or relegate it to backup status.
How's that?

You are not a big fan of your fellow countrymen, eh? The list of artists using Engl is amazing. They can't be so bad!
Sadly I'm not 17... but more than the double.
That is why I get angry everytime I read opinions on forums, specially with people that have never played any amp except the one he owns and talkis like an expert. But that also happens with other amps! just take a look at Mesa unofficial forum.
I never tried S.Morse but these days I'm compiling information about diffferent amps and I read somewhere that they are different voiced, S.Morse is great for lead but not as good for rythm tones, though external appearence and knobs are the same.I own an Engl Steve Morse for some weeks now. Anyway, as i read in thousand sites, 100Watt version of the Invader is much better than 150W. It has more tight sound and some little improved features like "Bright" button that is available for all channels.
I tried the Invader at a store but with a Engl Standard (V60) instead of my V30 cab, and master volume set at 0.5... so I won't dare to say anything about it.

I have tried the Morse when it came out and compared it to another Invader in the store.
With the Morse on channel 3 I could get exactly that singing, beautiful lead sound which I could never get out of the Invader. The extra mid controls certainly help a lot to shape the sound. However, as it has only three channels it basically sacrifices the Invader ch.3 rhythm sound for this, so the Morse wasn't really an option for me.
I didn't spend much time to compare the other channels.

I used to be THE BIGGEST Engl fan, I've owned almost all of them, started with the Straight (great amp), played the Blackmore and Savage exclusively for like 6 years , ovned Savage, blackmore, Savage Special Ed, Powerball, Savage60, Fireball, 3 Versions of the Straight, Screamer, Thunder 4 different Engl poweramps, 530, 620 (cool thing), Rackhead and recorded/played the Invader and all the other Engls
I can honestly say few people have played that many Engl amps over the time, and I didn't only test them, I owned them and as I said, I've been playing Engl EXCLUSIVELY for about 10 years.
I know those amps inside out and I used to love them (well, I still love the Straight)....but I'm not coming in from the side now, I pretty much started when Engl started, and started with Engl amps....that's one of the reasons I don't like them anymore, I basically bought every new Engl amp that came out and that made it very obvious how the amps were getting worse and worse the built quality (objective) as well as the tone (subjective) just went downhill with every amp they released.
That might perhaps be one of the reasons why I think Engl is such a big letdown, I used to play them back when they still knew how to build amps (seriously, try the Straight!) and I defended them against everybody, I used to be a real fanboi!
so other than most people on other forums I can honestly say that few people know Engl amps better than I do.
Back when I played Blackmore and Savage I tried a Rectifier and HATED it....It took me some time to understand why, now I'm loving the Recs.
Yes, their Endorsers list is long, but that doesn't say anything, many of them don't even play Engl, and again many don't even know how Engls actually sound.
I've recently watched a nice video interview of smolski talking about one of the bands/CDs I produced (also Engl endorsers) saying "this Band wouldn't sound as good as they do without Engl"....yeah, they brought an Invader and Powerball to the studio and THEY THEMSELVES voted both Engl out int the first round of the blind shootout....the Amp on the Record was an Überschall.
Even the Powerball Clips on houseofenglcom (or whatever that old oficial USA page was called) were really just clips recorded with a Recto and/or a tuned JCM800
yes, I HATE most of the Engl amps today, I still like the Blackmore and the Savage though, but just seeing all these stupid knowitall engl kids at every gig here in Germany make me despise that company.
Yes the Savage and BM sound good (not awesome, not better than other good amps, but as good as many others), but the hype around that fucking company here in Germany turns even those amps sour for me.
I'm not kidding, you go to ANY small gig here and all these kids see an "Engl" on stage and think it'sthe holy grail, it really is just hype.
that said, judging from the Review I've read of the Smolski Sig it really seems to be an interesting amp.
the Review pretty much said "this is the first Engl since the straight that can cut through a mix, it sounds modern but still open, raw and organic"....I might actually try one of thse one day..but then again, that'd mean I'd again have to deal with those Engl Fan Retards...I'd bring the Smolski Sig to a gig and would be swarmed by 17yo retards telling me about that awesome Powerball their friends are playing, and how awesome Engl is...and I should try a Powerball as well, cause it's brutal...

some of the Engl amps are ok or even good (if you like the sound), but many are complete wank and so are the fanbois here in Germany, fucking knowitall idiots with no clue whatsoever.
to me Engl is like a good looking Ex-Girlfriend, everyone sees her and thinks "wow, you're stupid, she's hot", but noone sees that she's dumb as fuck and has chronic diarrhea and a Penis.

My experience with engl is almost nothing, that is why I'm interested. My band's mate uses a Blackmore in another band and it sounds great. I want to try the Savage120 cause I've listened very tight good tone clips... probably if I get one, I will sell it in no more than 2 years as I always do with every gear.. I get bored of everything.
We have a Savage 60 (discontinued) in our rehearsing room as backup for gigs. It is great in some hands, in other hands not. We even recorded and album in 2001 with it, though production was shit so I'm not going to post any clip, hahah.
We haven't got those 17 englfanbois here in Spain. Thanks god.

I spent big bucks on an Engl SE and ended up not liking it as much as a 5150. Now I've got a 5150 and a 5150 III, which has both better distorted tones and better clean tones than the Engl SE. I'm definitely happier now.

Since today I played all Engl amps except Savage/Blackmore. The only one I really like is the Smolski. I think I have to try the Savage/Blackmore, too.

My first amp was an Engl Savage 60 (I still own it) and I spent lot of time trying to get a decent sound out of it....lot of settings, mic positions, etc... yes, some decent results but nothing special.
After some years I bought a 6505+ and it immediately blew away the savage....it cutted immediately the mix way better,it had a richer sound and I didn't use the savage anymore.
The fact is that the Savage 60 has a very sterile sound...it lacks body and the only way to get some "weigth" into the sound is raising the gain, losing clarity.
Same thing with the Powerball...I tried to record it several times when bands came to me with that amp but I never got a decent sound out of it.....undergained or fizzy as fuck, boomy or spiky..there is only 1 setting. Maybe is a matter of taste

I think what doubly pisses me off is that Billy Hyde, our ENGL importer, don't actually import Savages because most local tards here somehow think that the Powerball and Invader are the only models worth buying.
That, combined with the fact that I never cared for the Invader's sound in person, makes the amp pretty 'eh' for me.
