It's a hybrid word. Infra is a prefix therefore it's abbreviation is a two-letter combination. That at least is my interpretation. Infra's definition I believe is 'beneath' and/or 'below'. But, where the fuck does 'red' come from? Obviously, the beam's color is generally red but what about IR sensors that are invisible beams? Are they so faint that our eyes can't see them?
