So what's everyone think of the new MAIDEN?!?! I think it's really good. Better than Brave New World. Overall a great new cd by a classic band well worth picking up. My only complaint is that I hate the cover. The computer generated graphics thing is getting old. When Ed Hunter came out it was cool and even on Virtual XI but now it's just like, "ok, we KNOW that computers can do cartoonish images already" (damn, that sounded gay, didn't it!) but anyway, the Eddie images just look cheezy. They should go back to the pencils and paint a la Number of the Beast or even Seventh Son...just my take.

Agreed , Dance of Death is the best maiden album , since 7th. son of 7th.son

yup. great album. destroy St-Anger IMO.

Aren't you comparing apples & oranges?
The two bands have nothing in common.
It's like comparing the new Queensryche disc to the Latest Lynyrd Skynyrd disc? While I haven't heard the disc yet, I have heard good things about it from TVF & Jonny D. Can't wait to hear it.

If you combined the 5 or 6 good songs off of Brave New World with the 5 or 6 on Dance of Death then you'd have a Maiden album that could compete with their 80s output. Maiden albums of the 80s would have 1 filler tops, if any. Ever since 1990 rolled around, all Maiden albums consist of 40 to 60% filler.

I havent heard it yet, but heard one of the new songs at their concert last week and it was really good. Thanks for the reviews, I think ill buy it.

No you are right dude, but I love DOD better, even if they don't compare I don't like St-Anger anymore. As both Metallica and Maiden are my 2 favorite bands (or used to anyway) and released the album in a short period of time, it is just normal for me to express it this way.

I just had a chance to listen to the entire record through twice. I can't say I'm into it. It's not all that in my opinion. I would rank this one up there with No Prayer for the Dying, Fear of the Dark & Brave New World. Nothing really all that memorable. In fact, it's like a cookie cutter recipe they used on the last record. Before you start throwing bricks, I'd like to say that I really wanted to like the record...

*Smashes Sixx in the Head with a brick* J/k :)

um...i really liked it. It is their best since 7th Son, i think and it's just more focused, more consistant, darker and just overall better than Brave New World. I say it's well worth owning.

Took a few listens to appreciate it (although Montsegur hit me like a ton of bricks instantly), and even today, I'm still finding something new to like about the album.

Easily their best since 7th Son.

Is there something that I missed?! Or are all of you guys on the "Maiden" payroll!
I will listen again. Like I said, I really wanted to like that record.

I don't like Maiden much, in fact they suck.

Please pack it in. They are too over rated. No Prayer For The Dying and most of their live albums f**king sucks.

X-Factor was decent comeback - very dark. But soon after they sucked again.

I'd rather listen to Gramprix and Raven.

I hope Grim Reaper reform with Nick Bowcott and Steve Grimmett.

All Hell Let Loose and See You In Hell Wrath Of The Reaper. Classic in your face real basic British Metal.

KILLER.

Hey sunshine why so gloomy?!
Maiden have lost a step. It's not like you have just pointed this out to a village of idiots or anything. I think everyone here can agree on that.
So you bash Maiden...
And you think Reaper is a better band?!
That's just plain whacky...
Nick is not all that on guitar & Grimmett's voice is probably shot...
Put 'em together & what have you got?!
Just another of many 80's metal bands that NEVER made it that see the need to try again, only to fall flat on their faces....

LMAO sunshine hahaha Ah yes the GRIM face of reality strikes again

Yeah, sounds like SOMEBODY's not getting enough fiber in their diet! Little on the irritable side. Anyways, I actually liked Grim Reaper back in the day...but weren't they pretty much a ONE HIT WONDER????? See You In Hell is the only song they ever had that anyone other than the fatasses in the band ever heard of. Saying that Grim Reaper kicks Maiden's ass is like comparing PAMELA ANDERSON to MIMI on the DREW CAREY SHOW!
Apples to oranges, baby!
