Is Nevermore an underground band?

As soon as a band is capable of living off their music, I no longer consider them "underground", so no I do not consider Nevermore to be so. Obviously, that doesn't necessarily mean their music is any worse now (thats a debate for another time).

I mean if a band is playing only for a couple hundred people is it underground isn't it?

Yeah, I totally agree with you.

The Century Media is probably the largest commercial metal label out there.

Do the math.

i've never heard of them before I heard it ONCE that one time and totally got into it.

they have a bigger presence in europe

I agree Mr. Moose. However, alot of people I talk to outside my circle of friends don't know who Nevermore are. I label Nevermore as this, "The Greatest Band That The Majority Of People Haven't Heard". People ask me to describe Nevermore. I compare them to Queensryche, which most people have heard of, but tell them Nevermore is better, way better.

Stupid question, but does Warrel post here? And under what screen name?

Edit- Ah, WD. Makes since since he is also listed under the "moderator" list.

My good man, Mr. Dane is non other than "Sentient 6". Also, this is not a stupid question. What if I said your question was stupid??? But yes, Warrel does post here and I think asking if Nevermore is considered underground by some is a legitimate question.

I meant my question was stupid XD

Thanks you for that bit of knowledge. Didn't know Warrel was "Sentient 6". He posts here quite often.

Well, we're not all hard 80s rockers like you and your friends, hey.

THE WORLD HAS MOVED ON.

If a band is labeled to be "underground" or not is usually a question of which sub-cultural context your talking about. And since it being a very subjective term, you can't really draw any borders here. Sanctuary, for example, probably have been considered "undergound" in the general metal scene, but if you talk to fans dedicated to US heavy/power metal, they'd rather consider a band like Heathen's Rage to be underground. It's also basically irrelevant concerning the music, but the bigger a band gets the more haters surface usually. So as far as the metal scene goes, I wouldn't consider Nevermore to be an underground band, but I also think that they're not that big that there are many haters who just dislike Nevermore just for being Nevermore or their fans. The bands following and reputation is constantly growing, but you don't yet see a retarded COB-like crowd at a Nevermore show. So thanks to the band for not being trend-whores and not making (lyrically and musically) easy-to-chew bubble gum metal! But that's just my POV...
