Is Slayer and other bands really satanist

Im just wondering. Me being a newbie and all

The vast majority of bands are not satanists. I can't specifically speak for Slayer, but most bands discuss that type of subject matter not because they believe in it, but simply for shock value and/or they just find the subject matter interesting.
