Is there anything wrong with this sitty-ation?

haha that's what I thought... I knew I would need bass traps either way... but is it worth spending the extra $90 bucks for the acoustic foam as well (egg style, dark grey... looks auralex but who the hell knows these days)? It seemed like a deal man! I can't turn down a good deal.

If not I guess I'll just say fuck it to the foam!

And reluctantly start the construction of my DIY bass traps

Foam is only useful for the high frequencies, so you'd use it at reflection points so you wouldn't hear annoying flutter/slapback echo. Check out these threads dude, they should get ya sorted!

You don't have to get the Owens Corning 703 brand. You can get some mineral wool which is much cheaper and works about the same. The mineral wool isn't rigid like the OC 703 is but if you need rigid you could get Rockboard which is also about the same as OC 703 and is cheaper. I bought a case of mineral wool, and 3 individual panels of rockboard to make three 4" thick panels for the corners, and three 2" panels for the first reflection points. I bought all this from www.atsacoustics.com and my total was around $110. I built said panels for under $200 including the acoustic material, wood for the frames and fabric to cover them, and there was quite a big difference as soon as I put them up in the room.

Yeah, rockboard/rockwool is apparently pretty much as effective as OC703, but also apparently has the potential to disintegrate and crumble as the years go by :ill:
