Do you think this acoustic guitar tone is ok? Don´t mind the sloppy playing, I was testing many different mic positions so I was not worried about nailing the notes on every take.

I´m using a SM57 so an "ok" tone is good enough. I know that a condenser mic would be better for this task, but as I still don´t have the money for a really great condenser I thought it would be a waste of money getting a cheaper one just for tracking acoustic guitars.

Anyway, do you think this is passable or, as Tad Donley says, "if you want the boom you gotta pay the bucks"?

Took me a while to get a decent acoustic sound too. However, I did end up using a condensor. This recording you have here sounds really compressed. Almost seems to be boxing the sound. There's also some hiss going on. In what context are you going to be recording acoustics? Are they stand alone or buried in the song? Not sure a 57 is the best choice for trying to record such subtle, finger picking, playing.
