Is this Opeth's future... ?

Keith Richards is Peter in 30 years. And Mikael will have conceived children with super models all over the world as well as rumours of a gay fling between him and Jonas from Katatonia but they both remain ambiguous about it.

I don't think that will ever happen. They don't play big shows, though they definatly can book some bigger halls, but choose not to.

And there never gonna be mainstream like the Rolling Stones so yeah, no.

As much as I love Opeth, I just don't envision them ever being mainstream enough to attract ridiculously large crowds. As long as I've been foloowing metal, only Metallica crossed the line from "underground" to "mainstream", and having the large concerts like most of the wonderful and talented pop stars do.

In my little mind they're already the greatest band ever!
(So the feeling of the video clip is quite accurate, I think.)

+1

My thoughts exactly...

At my age, I have seen and heard many many bands, I passed by Earls Court last Wednesday night 15/02/06 as the 2006 Brit Awards ppl were leaving, at about 23:45pm.

I saw the programme well part of it, sooooo boring, I switched off and watched Lamentations again, Wonderful !!

Cheers, and thanks for responding to my thread Guys :)

Depends on what we're talking about. In America, they'll never be that big, but I wouldn't say that in some of the European countries that they couldn't pull it off. I think a lot of people are posting from an American point of view. In countries like Greece the fans are absolutely insane and metal bands are treated just like pop stars in America. I've read more than a few times about European metal fans trying to reach out and touch their favorite bands on stage.
