Is this worth finishing?

it sounds like something i would LOVE to hear a proper recording of with real guitars and all that jazz. i think it flows well enough compositionally. it´s a really crazy song, so i wouldn´t want it to be simpler or more "flowing" than it already is. it already has those moments where it transcends into pretty parts and it really "deconstructs" upon itself. i love that :)

as for the tempo, why don´t you try learning it perfectly (practice!) in a slower tempo, and then bring it up little by little until you reach the "proper" tempo? it sounds great when it´s a little fast like that.

Thanks for that guys.. just needed confirmation so i can proceed.. ill have to practise like fuck to nail this. :)

Yeah I think it's cool

This is also a cool way to write stuff. I might try it, instead of noodling around on the guitar, and then trying to tidy stuff up. Write the whole thing in midi and then learn it on guitar

Please finish and post. and thanks for this idea of writing too

Yeah wolfhalen, i reckon its faster and more accurate to compose in midi first. The only down side is that ppl tend to compose at a level that is higher than they can achieve.. but its a good thing as it pushes to practise harder..
atm i can nail this song ( but not so tight and very sloppy with verse ) at 118bpm, thats a good 10 bpm slower than the midi ones..

This really is a great method to visualize the complete work before you are in there obsessing over guitar parts. Well I do and I'm sure many other guitar players who record.

What do you compose this on, because the mid file just played in my windows media, and sounded alright (I could tell it was midi, but got the idea across)

I use reaper, and I would have to find and load a vst on many tracks to do that

the sounds are the general midi but my guess is with guitar pro

That is correct. I used guitar pro 5. You dont use it as a Vst.. :)
I find that exporting it as a wave file and re-importing it in ur daw ( audio channel ) works very well as a guide track. Its a good way to ensure the track is in time and tight.
