Is Toneport GX a GOOD usb/interface/preamp?

Is Toneport GX a GOOD usb interface/preamp?
if not...what is? i record one guitar (and bass) at a time..so dont need lots inputs... and wouldnt use the gearbox....

not really. for demo use it's ok. for album recordings look for something far more expensive.

EMU 0404 is a great one, apparently the best converters for its price range

well, if it works for demo..that's ok for a while...i'll use it to learn

since its for a laptop the 0404 is out...and its half the price too... thats ok i'll use this for a while!

I bought the toneport di silver for some reason, just wanted something quick. Bad decision, your much better off spending the extra bob on something better.

You have to use gearbox.

The GX doesn't have preamps, it's bassically a guitar DI. If your going to spring for a toneport at least grab a UX2.

I just use it for scratch guitar tracks personally, as I feel thats all it's really good for.
