getting a good tone on a certain piece of equipment, perhaps even recording it down, and then forgetting what you did exactly, and never getting that tone again? makes me utter mad...

I write down my settings. That said it doesn't mean shit because I can never get the mic back into that magic position (DAMMIT!).

argh, for me it's harder, I come from israel, it's the slut house for guitaristsuke:, everybody uses everybody elses equipment, right now I have at home my own guitar and another 2 guitars each belong to 2 friends of mine , and a jekyll and hyde pedal I stole from my rhythm guitarist the rehearsal room in the area also keeps switching the heads between a mesa dual rectifier and a JCM900, and sometimes you get pushed to using some weird yamaha tube head which I don't know where the hell it came from also each concert we have the same 10 bands which switch up the same POD/distortion pedal/octaver/whatever the hell some guy found the willpower to carry with him and not borrow from somebody else
