I think I'll pass on the pop punk bands, thank you very much. Their synthetic energy and uninspired drivel isn't worth my attention; it is shit and I hate it. I am still forced to hail to you, dutchy because my favorite death metal band is Dutch (God Dethroned). I try to end things on a positive note.

My perception of rap is pretty much the same as my impression of metal or punk or any other type of music. About 90% of it is crap. There are a few really good rap groups out there (Jurassic 5 and Dialated Peoples come to mind) that for some reason or another don't get a lot of airplay.
Outside of Anthrax and Slayer, I don't really listen to anything metal anymore, because I think most of it sucks. Most of the punk I listen to is stuff I grew up with (Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, The Ramones, The Misfits, UK Subs, Flipper).
The last few cd's I've bought are decidedly un-metal. Ben Folds:Rockin' the Suburbs, Eels:Souljacker (probably the best album I've heard in the last year), Weezer:Maladroit, a great Frank Sinatra collection, and a live Hamell On Trial album.
As far as MTV goes, I don't really watch it, but I don't think I'm the target audience. I do admit the Real World is a guilty pleasure. I don't go out of my way to watch it, but if I'm flipping around and it's on, I'm stuck....
