iTunes 8 is out. I love iTunes

Does anyone know why iTunes is so much faster on a mac? is there anything you can do on the PC version to get it running a little more fluidly?

Lol I'm not even going to say it. All it will do is start another Mac vs. PC debate..

"View" menu, "view options" and untick genre?

OK, that gets the Genre column out of the main window...the one that has ALL the columns, like the Artist, Album, Track Length, Year, etc...

I'm talking about the browser ABOVE that (you get it by clicking Show Browser in the View menu)...it now has Genre, Artist, and then Album....I just want artist and album, which I used to be able to do pretty easily...

anyone have any ideas?

i like how its possible to create multiple libraries and boot to different libraries. also sharing itunes libraries over a network is simple. hold option while launching itunes, choose create library, or open existing. no doubt you can do this with other players. but itunes, and mac osx is so darn easy, and i love the way everything works. so does chuck:lol:

wats with the gay compressor thingy on itunes? it really pisses me off! its forever ducking all over the place. i've looked through all the setting and always have all the enhancement shite turned off. but its still the same. i get it on every pc/mac i use

i personally hate the program
it's the same as the "gay compressor thingy" in WMP... you simply turn it off.

if you have them all turned off, then it's your speaker system. look, there are several pros here using iTunes, for referencing mixes against other mixes and for personal listening.... do you really think that wouldn't be heard if it existed? that is NOT happening from iTunes as long as Sound Enhancer & Sound Check are turned OFF. if you have them off and it's still happening, then it's somewhere else in your system, end of discussion.

a little common sense should tell you that the pros on here wouldn't use iTunes, and nor would anyone else, if it did anything of the sort. it doesn't, so go peddle that bill of goods elsewhere.

Should I put i-8 on Tiger OS or wait until I upgrade to Leopard? Or is that just a stupid question? :heh:

It depends if you want the new features or not. It shouldn't run any slower....The new grid view is cool, and they added some cool visualizer effects. They still haven't taken the suck out of the Windows version.

It's there it's just not as obvious anymore. It's under the area where you tell itunes what to do when you insert a CD. There is a button that says "import settings..."

Why do they keep moving it? It used to be its own top-level tab, then they moved it to a sub-tab, and now this? That's the most frequent thing I do in iTunes!!

I'm with James as a very happy iTunes user - but I'm really fucking sick of Apple hiding the import settings. I wish I could access it with a button right next to the import button on the main interface. I'm really angry about this, I'm going to make a mockup in Photoshop and send it to Apple.

Shane when you do the mockup please send that to me .

I changed my mind. I have iTunes 8 now and I am happy that the Import Settings button is in the General tab of preferences now - that's two fewer clicks than before! :kickass:

Kudos to Apple for actually improving something in the UI - as opposed to violating their own Humane Interface standards (as they've done in Apple Mail in Leopard.)

I'm not so sure about the Genius feature though - I don't think Black Tide sounds anything like Eluveitie.

Perhaps they should hook into the Music Genome project - its recommendations are FAR smarter, and with Pandora potentially on its way out, it could save their business.
