Jackson Japan closed

I have two 90's MIJ Jacksons. one Dinky Pro and one J-RR and they both sound fat and have great action.

I know, a lot of people are gonna hate me for this post....but it's true!
The old Japanese Jacksons actually sounded fuxking fantastic (I played some mid 90ies MIJ that were just as good as ESP or us jacksons)!!!

Jackson lover here and couldn't agree more.
I have a fusion pro, RR pro and warrior pro (professional serie not actual pro serie) for confirm...

Glad to see some people here are rocking the early 90's Pro series Jacksons, legendary axes. Quite a different beast than the Japanese stuff they had made recently.

Don`t forget about Jackson Stars/Grover Jackson, same factory, but usually better specification targeted to internal Japan market.
They hold quality of old Jackson/Charvel. My friend had Jackson Star SL-138 he got for price of new DK2 in 2003-2004, but better hardware (Duncans and Schaller floyd). Attack was better than my Model 6, but less depth, can be due to thinner neck and slime neck joint (as on all modern jacksons), without heel.

There is also one story, one guy blamed his Grover Jackson soloist compared to USA RR, he said that even output has lower with same pickup... He sent me some DIs, output was lower, but he did not take into account pickup height, on USA it was set very close to strings, so sound was weird enough. After height adjustment sound became a matter of personal preference to alder (RR) or poplar (in soloist).

yeah, the early-mid 90ies MIJ and the Stars are killer axes....just the last decade MIJ are pretty mediocre IMO

+1

When you have Itaru Kanno at the helm (Caparison) it's hard to turn out a bad guitar. My old Fusion Pro was awesome. Never should've sold that one.

I definitely agree about the MIJ Jacksons from the past few years though. Not 'bad' instruments, but nothing to write home about.

I've known about this for months because it was posted at JCF back then. Somewhat sad to see that era go, though I was more affected when they switched distributors and subsequently shut off the (semi)custom options from the Japan factory for the JacksonStars guitars (while significantly rising prices at the same time).
I'm really glad I acquired several JacksonStars as well as an early 90s Soloist Archtop Pro over the years when I had the chance to. They are definitely above the quality of the standard imports, and only slightly surpassed by my USA Custom KV.

Quite a few of the MIJ Jacksons I've played in the last 5 or so years were really nice guitars. Not quite as good sounding as the MIA models perhaps, but some really good playability on those MIJ Jacksons I've played.
Sucks to hear about this, damn :\
