OMG That movie's been one of my all-time favourites since I was a kid. It scared me shitless back then but I kept on watching it over and over. You will not be disappointed!
The whole thing sort of reminds me of the Hawke/Delpy bit from Waking Life (http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gte484v/wakinglife/juliedelpyethanhawke.html). Also the movie was scary as shit and I had to cover my eyes for a lot of it. I accidently hurt myself too. At one point I had my fists covering my mouth and something loud and scary happened and my right fist shot up and I sort of punched myself in the nose. Anyway, awesome movie!
By the way, is there anyone who knows about Jacob's Ladder? There's an opera titled same by Schoenberg. I've read the script a little and it was very good. But I don't know what exactly Jacob's Ladder is.
Glad you liked it! And yeah, it is a freaky movie!! One scene I could absolutely not look at for the longest time was at that point in the movie where Tim Robbins starts becoming obsessed with researching his condition and stays at home all day, and his wife's talking to him and sorta grabs'im and says "Anybody in there?! Anybody home?" and you get a close-up of her face and she's got those scary alien eyes...
And those hospital scenes with the severed limbs everywhere and the mental patiens overhead are absolutely brilliant, as is the party scene where Robbins' bitch gets fucked by Satan. mmmm.... I think I'll watch it tonight!
The "DREAM ON" part scared me so much. Jesus. And I was curled up in the fetal position during every scene Macaulay Culkin was in because I thought his head was going to explode or some other freaky shit was about to happen.
