How's your studio coming along man? I remember a while back you were talking a little bit about the space you were putting together, last update I recall was when you got your hospital grade recepticals in... So anything cool going on there or what?

nah, it's cool.. basically i've just been too busy working to do much towards building my new room.

Haha, I know I know, and that means a helluva lot to someone like me who has been a fan of his guitar playing for as long as I can remember, but I think most people think "that fuckin' ripping guitarist from Disincarnate/Death/Obituary/Testament" when they hear James Murphy instead of "that audio engineer putting out some of the most killer mixes in metal these days"... He's making a big name for himself as one of the go-to guys in the industry for sure, but that's what I mean, it's good to see that it's still possible to make a name for yourself when everyone and their dog wants to have their own home studio now without having 15 years of big name productions under your belt already. James has been in this game for a long time but, correct me if I'm wrong, he hasn't been doing the engineer thing as a full time endeavour for THAT long has he?
At the end of the day though you're right, it can never hurt to have James Murphy on your driver's license
What's important though is that I would still be going apeshit over his mixes if he was Bob the farmer from Iowa, so being James Murphy has nothing to do with it
