Jazz Mix

I have no idea what I'm doing here. The panning and stuff is pretty much just like a metal mix, which I'm guessing is not typical for a four-piece jazz act. The tracking wasn't great, so I'm basically salvaging what I can. Any help?

i haven't got any experience with jazz stuff, but it sounds good to me.

i wouldn't pan the drums all over the place though, it sounds kinda strange in a jazz setting. maybe narrow them down a bit.

I really like your approach.
Only two things I would change: the bass drum could use a bit more attack even though it's usual in jazz that the kick drum is only a bottom 'feel'.
And the bass could be a bit more dirty/natural. I suggest it is played with fingers so it would be nice to hear some of the finger sound.
In here it sounds too compressed or it has not enough high-end.

Gonna work on this a little later today--I'll see if I can't get a jazzier drum image.

The bass must've been compressed during tracking. I didn't put any compression on it in the mix . I can get more high end out if it, though, so I'll mess around with that.

Not sure what to do about the kick drum, since there's basically no content above bass frequencies that isn't just cymbal bleed. I tried pretty hard but I just can't coax anything good out of it other than a thump. Is it still worth getting more attack in the thump sound? I guess I could use one of the jazzy kicks from SSD4 to augment it, but I feel like I should go 100% real on this? Do you usually try to preserve all dynamics in this sort of thing? I could try to automate the kick or something.
