Jesus christ what a gimmick (Gibson)...

Like Gibson's legal team, the pickups go in through the back.

Seems dumb to me, I'd rather just wait til a string change to change pickups than lose a ton of body mass for giant pickup cavities that go straight through the body. The EMG quickconnect system is good enough for me as far as changing pickups go, I wish they could come up with a universal system like that that didn't step on anyone's toes legally. I think it would increase pickup sales for all companies if people could switch them out that easily, so I don't understand why they don't just agree upon a standard.

Talking to my friend (works at nashville gibson making pups) it seems that the owner is more interested in making stupid "next gen" guitars than he is in making a decent instrument. I had heard a rumor that Gibson is/will be making there bodies lighter by not putting so much wood on/in them.

Sucks. Gibson has gotten to big to serve the musician properly.

I think it would be pretty neat for someone to make adaptors that you could wire a pickup into, and then switch in and out of a guitar with an EMG-style jack for the wires. But definitely not at the expense of hollowing out the whole body, ugh.

Seems as they are doing that now. When I went les paul shopping I tried out the classic series and when I picked one up I had to ask the sales person "this isnt a real les paul?". It literally weighed as much as my s-series. So I went with a custom instead. Way to go Gibson

I noticed that too, my les pauls weigh a ton and the LP's at guitar center don't.

stupid, it takes me about 15 minutes to change a pickup... and then i'm still spending most time on screwing the pickups to the pickup rings...
