Jigsore Terror-World End Carnage

World End Carnage is the debut album of Swedens Jigsore Terror. Playing grindcore with elements of death metal, this band has burst onto the scene with 15 tracks and 35 minutes of blasting fury.
Only one song on this beast overcomes the 3 minute mark, but surprisingly, the band transitions to mid-paced, groove-based moments a fair number of times. Something that certainly makes the album more enjoyable, although the songs are all so similar, it can wear on the listener, even with its short length. When the band slows down, the riffs are a definite highlight and at times, the tone of the guitar reminds me of Anatas last release and considering how much I enjoyed that album, thats certainly a plus. The production is fairly thin, providing a biting, harsh tone. I would have preferred a full, thunderous production to fully accent the furious drumming, but this works well enough. Dan Swanö contributes minimal backing vocals on one song, Slaughtered Existance and, although no information was provided, may have produced the album as well, so if you are familiar with his approach, you know what to expect in that area. Outside of the guitar work, the high point of the album would have to be the vocals. Recorded by drummer Adde Mitroulis, they are a caustic, vile assault on the ears. They remind me heavily of the vocal attack of Howitzer from Gospel of the Horns, but not quite as raspy and demonic. Some of the highlights of the album include opener Gorging on Exposed Arteries, Slaughtered Existance, Reeking Death, Insane Torture and World End Carnage.
All in all, not a bad debut, but there is certainly room to grow. Id like to see the band find a little more differentiation between the songs and add more mid-paced moments. With that, it would certainly become something much more solid, but for now, I like what I hear.
