It seems you can't go anywhere these days with out John Williamson showing up to sing Waltzing Matilda!

Don't get me wrong, Im a very proud aussie but after reading that he sung it at the bali memorial service i think ist going to far.

Its embarrassing enough at the rugby but Bali is something that i feel he should stay out of.

Whats next? League grand final, Olympics, Showing up at Gallipoli on anzac day?

I have no problem with people singing the song if they want, to but i don't believe it should be forced down our throat by this one bloke.

sorry for such a off topic post but it really pisses me off.

Ummm.... at a memorial service for people killed in a terrorist (ie criminal) act, they sing a song about a criminal committing suicide to escape capture by the police.

Oh yeah... that makes sense, and not at all iconic or in bad taste.

Pretty pathetic really, but then so many things like that make me cringe here.

Like "Aussie Aussie Aussie - Oi Oi Oi", for example. Moronic.

I reckon Barnesy singing 'Khe Sahn' at the Bali memorial service would have been bonzer, mate. Can't get more Aussie, Aussie, Aussie than that, eh, mate?

I hate jingoism. When I see footyheads singing "Oi Oi Oi" (or something of that nature), I just wish I had some kind of automatic weapon.
