Join me at the altar of Coverdale....

It's not a comment on the talent of the band. Great talent, just not a great cd (again.....in my opinion). By the time of Slip of the Tongue, I was really missing the cool, bluesy, hard-rockin' bar-band vibe that the early releases had. They had become more of an "arena hair-band". That's probably why I liked The Snakes "Once Bitten" cd so much.....it had the Moody/Marsden magic touch that Whitesnake didn't quite have anymore.

Glenn, have you seen the band live within recent tours? Also, did you ever see them live back in the 80's?

~Brian~
I saw them at Sweden Rock in '06. Excellent performance imo. They're back at SR this year. Looking forward to Zod's review when he returns.

I'm an oddball, because I prefer the "arena hair-band" era of Whitesnake, but I like their blues rock era as well. They've went through stages throughout the years there's no doubting that, but they've all been great in my opinion. :kickass:

It's all cool. If we all had the same opinion, it would get quite boring, wouldn't it? You're right ,though.......bar-band or arena-band, Whitesnake has always been a top-quality outfit!

I've been jonesing for a decent remaster of Slide It In for years. The current cd issue sucks balls.

Your wish has been granted on April 23rd Slide It In will be re-released in Japan. Go to CD Japan for details (www.cdjapan.co.jp). I am also excited to see Def Leppard's High 'n' Dry finally get remastered .... one week later and also from Japan.

As a side note, there were two versions of Slide It In. One released in Europe with Micky Moody (guitar) and Colin Hodgkinson (bass). While a remixed version was later released in America with John Sykes (guitar) and Neil Murray (bass). Which explains the song writing credits to Moody on several tracks. Personally, I prefer the American version for the power and energy but I also like the original mix with Moody. The European version has a smokey blues vibe to the songs and I enjoy Moody's playing. More information at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slide_It_In.

It was Moody & Mel Galley(Trapeze) on the original version of 'Slide'. Galley's contributions, esp. in the songwriting, make this version my favorite.

Interesting. I'll probably hold off on blindly ordering these until I hear/read about the sound quality. Some of the Japanese remasters are great, and some aren't worth domestic prices, much less expensive import prices.

I'm liking it, too. Favorite track for me right now is Can You Hear the Wind Blow. Doug Aldrich is great on his own merits, but I'd give my left nut to see John Sykes back with Coverdale again. Of course I'd also like to see Coverdale rejoin M3, but I'm not sure which is more unlikely... :)
