Jon Oliva's Pain

Indeed a killer release... Jon Oliva's Pain has moved very high on my favorits list, and they DO deliver the goods live too. Each time I saw them live they were very tight. Also guitar player Matt LaPorte has improved alot on this record.
Hawk and me got to listen to the full CD a few months ago together with Jon and Matt in a little pub somewhere in Holland, must say that gave our first listen something special....

Uh... I hereby declare myself the official UMOS retard because I only now realised what your nickname means.
Car-Nut, as in "automobile enthusiast", am I right? Somehow I've always thought it didn't have any particular meaning, it was just "carnut".

Yeah, back on topic, Maniacal Renderings rules. It sounds less like Savatage leftovers and more like a real band effort, compared to Tage Mahal (which probably was Savatage leftovers). If we can't have Savatage then I guess this is the next best thing and I'm pretty satisfied.

.

Yeah, "automobile enthusiast" sounds a bit fuzzy :p
Don't worry, I believe most of our English speaking mates here didn't realize the meaning of my nick that fast either !

It does rank up there...
Here's my list of essential Oliva listening (keeping in mind that this is from a casual fan and not a hard core fanatic like some of you guy and gals):

Doctor Butcher-S/T
Savatage-Hall of the Mountain King
-Gutter Ballet
Jon Oliva's Pain-Maniacal Renderings

I have heard the CD and loving it. I will be picking up a real copy at the release party later this month. Can't wait to see Jon and the guys tear it up again!!!:kickass: I'm sure I'll be seeing Whisper there as well.

I will definitely be there! Bought the metal case version at progpower and think it is great. Looking forward to seeing the Mountain King live again.:headbang:
