Jon Schaffer confirms new IE vocalist...

That was news to me.. I was kinda hoping Ripper would end up with Dimebag and Vinnie with their New Found Power act they're putting together...

but this works for me.

having just interviewed Jon for my radio show. he said that Ripper was hired to finish the record BEFORE he was let go from Priest.
they have not made any decisions on an actual replacement. but jon was so stoked about finishing the album in two days, i dont see how it could be anyone else but ripper

I just read the interview with Jon in BWBK - now I'm completely excited for this album. I had no idea that it would be so devoted to American history!! I know and love the fact that Schaffer is an unabashed constitutionalist and conservative, but I had no idea this album would contain a 32 minute long 3 part 'Gettysburg'!! Not to mention an intro of what is supposed to be a crushing rendition of the Star Spangled Banner! I'm damned excited, I love this guy.

I just read the following in Electric Basement:

....While TIM OWENS has been drafted for vocals on the new ICED EARTH album The Glorious Burden, he is NOT a member. The vocal slot will be filled by someone else for touring purposes...

That actually makes me feel better. IE will still go out and get a vocalist a little more suited to their style. Most likely, they will pick up some relatively unknown singer, a la Savatage, rather than a big name.
