Jorn back in Masterplan

I don't believe it for the time being. I have a theory on Jorn, he never last more than two albums with the same project (his own band does not count):

Ark (2 albums)
Masterplan (2 albums)
Millenium (1 album)
Mundanus Imperium (1 album)
Beyond Twilight (1 album)
Allen/Lande (2 albums)

So if he pull another one with Masterplan will be kind of a curse breaker , but of course I'll be delighted with it.

I like Millenium and Ark the best out of what he's done. Millenium is a GREAT band in general. 'Angelfire' is actually a more solid album than 'Hourglass', it just doesn't have as much really really high points. But there's nothing horribly gay like 'Rocket Ride' on that album, and Todd Plant easily sounds as good as Lande. Masterplan and Allen/Lande I never have understood why people like. Haven't heard any of his solo stuff..

Guys look at this. Come on, how can you not see it?

That news item came from me. More than a month ago I noticed how Jorn was rising in their top friends just after Mike had left them.

I contacted Roland about it and he told me he could not give me the interview I wanted even if he wanted to do it.

The only bummer is that Aardschok had not credited me for my work on this. But that's a minor issue.

Haha, actually just a few days ago I was looking at Roland's Myspace and came to the (false) conclusion that Kelly Sundown Carpenter would be the new lead singer. You see as Roland has 4 vocalists on his friend list (Jorn, Kiske, DiMeo and Carpenter) and Carpenter was the only one who had no past projects with Roland so he must be the new Masterplan singer.
He would've been a good fit but Jorn is of course the best choice.

I wonder if Uli Kusch was the reason Jorn left in the first place (I know Grapow and Kusch aren't really in speaking terms), officially it was musical differences of course...

Maybe because I seldom check MySpace bands news unless I have a strong relationship, I spend more time with my friends. I go to a band site to see if there's something about an upcoming release, but if no release is scheduled I usually don't check a band MySpace or website.

Bummer indeed about the interview :(

The first Masterplan is my favorite Jorn-related project, so this is good news. Aerontics album was a little disappointing for me. Hoping that they put out a new album & it's on par with 1st album.

I just found out that the reason I didn't check the Masterplan MySpace is because I don't have them as friends . I usually go to their official website, I seldom recall that nowdays most bands keep MySpace more updated than their official websites (or sometimes MySpace is the only official website.

I'm going to send and add request :D

I bet 'The Sun Goes Down' is a Thin Lizzy cover, Jorn seems to revere Lynnot.

Exactly!
Jorn is a great songwriter and without him Masterplan was just one of the million "power" boring bands.

He's not really much of a songwriter IMO. Listening to any of his solo albums from start to finish is a chore, predictable mid tempo stuff. The thing he brings to Masterplan is his godly voice, I think the songwriting was affected more by the departure of Uli Kusch. That said, I enjoyed MKII even if it is the weakest of the three.

No official confirmation from the band yet... what gives?

I really disagree... "Out To Every Nation" and especially "The Duke" are great albums! You may like them more or less but the songwriting there is awesome and Jorn had a nice share in it.

More conformation of what I have been suspecting for a few months now. From the Masterplan forum:

---- from poster Micke ------

I have the latest issue of Sweden Rock Magazine in front of me right now. I have just read an interview with Jorn. He really is back in Masterplan!!

He says that the new album will be a little different than the two first with him on vocals. Less progressive. Some unfinished stuff from Aeronautics but 90% new material. We have to wait and listen.

:)

Thanks for the info Henri, I don't mind using leftover material from a previous album several bands have done it in the past and "Aeronautics" it's a good one.

This also breaks my theory about Jorn been unable to stay more than two albums with a band except his own one.
