What's so great about this guy? His voice cannot compare to Eric Adams, Timo Kotipelto, Roy Kahn, DC Cooper to name a few and I bet he couldn't sings any of their songs as good as they do. And as for looks, there is no comparison to these guys. Again, what's the big deal with this guy?
What's so great about 'this guy' - JOSH GROBAN - is IMO absolutely incredible. He can't compare to any of the people you listed because that's a totally different style of singing. Who cares if he can't sing any of their songs as good as they do. Can anyone truly sing THEIR songs as good as THEY do. Probably not because like you just said - they are THEIR songs. Do you honestly think they would sound as good as Josh on the classical music he sings? Absolutely not. ANYWAYS - IMO he has an incredible voice - like an angel. Judging by looks alone, I'd take my long haired rock stars over Josh any day ... but then again why does that even matter when talking about music?
To Mephistopheles: Josh Groban is a very young, classical singer, who, over the past year has had amazing success. There is a really neat story about how he got "discovered" ... you can check it out at JoshGroban.com I heard him on my Launch Cast player at work one day singing "Let Me Fall" from Cirque du Soleil and I was just stunned by his voice ... I stopped what I was doing and then went and got his CD. There is a Channel 8 special that is being replayed over and over right now ... see if you can check it out. He has one studio album out and another Live CD from the Channel 8 special that comes with a DVD. Josh sang "O, Holy Night" at the lighting of the Christmas tree in NYC, and the National Anthem for the opening game of the World Series ... maybe you caught one of those?
Not everyone has to agree - I just thought I would see who else was interested!
I don't know his music but my roommate constant talks of him. We don't play our music around eachother so I don't know if I like him or not.. but now with this thread, I'll make an effort to check him out.
Let me know what you think. He's not of course the proggie power metal guy BY ALL MEANS, but I figured a lot of people on this board could appreciate GOOD music and pure talent when they hear it and he is definitely talented ...
Don't get me wrong. I'm not knocking your taste in music and I do love classical music and people who sing classical music. I just think that he has a bit too much vibrato in his voice for my taste. I prefer Michael Ball myself. Btw, where in Texas are you located? I'm in Houston
