I copied this link from the Progpowerusa board. It seems as though Jeff Scott Soto and Journey parted ways. Didn't know JSS was in Journey in the first place, but it seems as though Schon hired a Filipino bar band singer for the job. I must admit though... this guy is pretty darned good. Not only does he hit the high clean stuff like classic Journey to near perfection, but he even did a good job (though not as good) on the raspy, gritty vocals of Brian Adams. I would pay to hear this guy sing for Journey.

Melodicrock.com posted news that they had hired this guy a couple of months ago, it became official just a week or so ago. I was really looking forward to seeing what they could do with Jeff Scott Soto as he had already worked with Neal in Soul Sirkus... They'd have to come up with some dynamic original stuff otherwise I'd have to pass...Honestly there thousands of cover bands performing these songs or tribute bands out there as well, if you're pressing forward let's hear some solid original material that matches the classic stuff...

I think JSS could have done a way better job then this new guy. He has a powerful voice, but the way he accents some parts annoys me.

However, if he does a great job on the new material that is where it will count the most.

whoever they get will never beat this; one of my single favorite vocal performances ever. The version on Escape is brilliant, and this live version comes pretty damned close.

exactly. i'd rather JSS still be there. i did like the album arrival but thought generations was pretty bad. the best song journey has done after perry left was the song on the armageddon soundtrack

:erk:there go my hopes of Steve Perry coming back....
I hate rumours! They crush my heart :Smug:
