JST - Gain Reduction

Im curious as well, i can't help but think it's gotta be similar to Waves Rvox, but i have no clue, i havent tried it.

I haz it

the download was sent to me...2 seconds after i bought it.

very different from RVox...Rvox seems to be cleaner and fuller. even with GR's "body" fader all the way up. That's not a bad thing tho...this plugin is different, it adds a lot of saturation and character. For the price, think it's a steal.

I even asked Joey on twitter this, but it adds like a short room fx to it. he replied that there's so much compression it brings the room out of your recorded vocal. But it did that on a synth track as well...maybe im just hearing things.

Overall i think he made a really good plugin. But if i could suggest something, it would be to have it ilok ready. But that's just me. Maybe it's too much hassle to go through pace and stuff.

Really intrigued by this one, as well. I wish there were before and after samples on his site, so I could actually tell what's happening to the vocal... but if you guys are digging it, I might just pick it up. For the price, it seems like a great deal and it'd potentially make workflow much quicker.

Why? It's cheap enough that he'll keep customers who would otherwise pirate and iLok isn't exactly headache-free all the time. It's one of the better forms of DRM out there but it's still a pain in the ass compared to no DRM. I'm just tired of being treated like a criminal when I fucking paid for software.

yeah...cheap or not...people will pirate it. He's still gonna sell a lot haha.

I have never ever had problems with ilok stuff. I was just my own suggestion, i like having the plugins locked up to the ilok. I work in a lot of different computers, that's probably why, and im a selfish jealous bastard too haha i guess

Here are some comparisons I did from some of my sessions:
I used CLA-76 Blacky on 20:1 ratio, and JST Gain Reduction on default settings

pipaguapique, I hear what you're talking about in the clip above here with gain reduction on it. Almost like a quick slapback.

I just love it, bought it 10min after seeing announcement video on Joey's YT.
I was surprised that it compress that HARD and doesn't sound THAT much and everything sound so even. I was expecting that it will give that popular hi-end air too, but I love that it's actually not like that.
In announcement video Joey mentioned that he use lot of compressors and aux tracks n stuff. After quick experiments it sounded like there is also something like multiband comp too, because I had pretty big boost around 3k and changes was not that big + overall balance was pretty similar like before.

eq matched with/without the plugin to see what it did on a guitar track

I like the CLA alot better.

Is that bad :D

I think the CLA-76 and the JST Gain Reduction both sound good.
On the scream example with the JST the S's stuck out a lot more.
