Note: These guys offer >free< message board software that can be easily set up on your own domain, banner free, and is fairly customizable.
I just set one up on my own domain not so long ago and it has been doing very well for us over there. I suggest giving it a shot. I'll gladly give you guys what help you need to set it up.
(because I hate visiting banner-spamming boards.) I really need to get a pop-up blocking program. 
Anyway, just a thought I thought I'd pass on.
I've only been here for a day and these banners are driving me nuts.
