Been saving up for this badboy and finally managed to get it! Had a quick shot of it last night!

Lots of rejection so doing vocals with monitors cranked is no problem at all, throw a gate on or edit out the noise and you're sorted.

Also you hardly get any room sound at all compared to using a condenser, which is great for when you're working in a less than perfect room.

I only needed about 20db or so of gain, but then I am a very loud screamer. I can see you needing more for quieter applications though.

Also I really see what people say about it sitting in the mix well. it makes the vocals really audible without drowning out everything else.

Definitely sounds a bit clearer without the foam filter on though, but I wonder if the presence boost would help.

The presence and rolloff switches are great for matching the mic to different singers. I preferred the sound of my voice with it on flat, but for the guitarist in my band (clean singing) who has quite a dull voice the presence boost and rolloff really worked for him.

All in, love it. £320 very well spent. If anyone out there is considering buying one then go for it! Your vocal tracks will love you for it.

You motherfucker... I don't need anymore mics, but now I need this!

Happy new mic day! You son of a bitch. :D

I always (literally always) boost at 3000hz by 2dB on every vocal I record using the SM7. Try it - it just works. Every time!

I always use the presence boost filter and the low cut when im recording vocals! The presence boost makes quite some difference!

I've been wanting one forever, but knowing how much use it'll get, I can't justify dropping $350 on one. Is there anywhere to get one cheaper? Looking at eBay they're all the same price.

It's easily worth $350. It's an awesome mic that can be used on all kinds of things, and sounds great for vocals on almost any voice.
