Just got myself a solid state hard drive..

I got my wife an Acer Aspire One netbook, with a solid state drive, for only $250 from NewEgg on a special. Boot time with Ubuntu Linux is wickedly fast. I'm sure these drives perform even better with full-on desktop hardware.

Does it noticeably improve performance with SSD 3.0 or other sample-based virtual instruments for any of you guys?

Sure does Kaz, but not anything absolutely major imo. You need to be RAIDing these things really, which means PCI express cards or drives.
