My boss said they had plumbing problems and shit piled up in the basement, but that's just a rumor.
It's believable. If you ever see a spoken word show there or a comedy show and you don't have to put up with the smell of sweaty moshers you can get a sense of how bad that place stinks. :ill:
Those KISS photos, I have been looking for them for years. That was Halloween Night 1974, RUSH OPENED, and there was a lightning storm causing a power outage during KISS' set. How apropo! I also loved how once I found the photos, I discovered that they were shot at an angle that clearly shows it is our Newport! KISS never played there again, as by the time they returned in 1975, they were big enough for Vet's, and then in 1977, they were big enough for St. Johns Arena (which no longer is "safe" for concerts).

My barber saw them at St. John's Arena. I have seen the Rush photos from that show before.
That is rad. That was the only show they played there as well. Rock 'n' Roll Over tour. After that they played the Ohio Center until the Value City Arena was built. The Ohio Center used to get lots of shows (including Clash of the Titans) but I think they officially closed their doors to music.
