JVM/2203 owners: how much 2203 is in jvm

I've had a JMP 2203 in the studio for several years, and the JVM doesn't sound anything like it to me. I found it really thin and unsatisfying to play through. You'd be much better off getting an actual JMP or JCM800.

Honestly, I don't know why Marshall doesn't do a JMP2203 reissue like they've done with the rest of their vintage amps. Would be amazing.

Every new Marshall claims to sound like a 2203; none of them do.

Closes I have heard is a DSL 100 on vintage crunch and that's still miles off

Big +1 to this. I don't understand the love for that amp. If it were half the price, maybe, but meh.

This. I have 50W (205H) version.

Most vintage mode of overdrive channel is green, but definetely it's not JCM800 sound. I can describe it as smooth and polite modern crunch. JCM800 is unpolite, rawest and much bigger.

yeah, not too similar.....unfortunately XD
the jvm is a great amp, no doubt about that. but the 2203 just has a very particular sound, and the jvm isn't even in the ballpark imho.
