I think he's just trying to get people's attention, and he picked 5 of the biggest heavy hitters here (though I love how he refers to Brett by his band name, reminds me of the scene near the beginning of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure when they're trying to show their teacher that they've learned something and Ted's like (reading off of the board) "We've learned that thanks to Genghis Kahn, Joan of Arc, and Socratic Method, the world is filled with wonderful history" )

Okay, I'm listening on headphones - so take this for what it's worth.

- Vocals too loud and dry
- Guitars too scooped and get lost under the vocals. Need more mid range. Maybe a bit less gain
- Typewriter kick drum has no bottom end - just too clicky
- Not enough overheads - can really only hear the big crash hits

Basically, mute that vocal track and just work on the drums. They sound really boxy and pushed back. Not sure how you miced it, but that snare sounds like it's mainly in the overheads than it's own mic.

Ok, here's my thoughts:

Something ain't right with that kick. Bass guitar is buried. Were there new strings on that bass? It's pretty dead sounding..

Vox are sort of bright. Guitars are VERY thin. More mids, please.


As for the drums: Learn how to tune toms. They sound like Kentucky Fried Chicken boxes. New skins, decent mics, proper tuning & some compression & EQ will be needed on them. And some verb.
Snare: needs some bottom. And it should be louder in the mix. Try to get the kick & snare to be the same volume.

Anyway, still sounds better than some of my earlier stuff, that's for sure!

That said.

That kick needs some thump, the tone is fine especially for what it sounds like your going for.
Guitars are thin.
Bass could use a slight boost or maybe some drive or something, not sure what it is but it needs something.

Glenn is right those toms are pretty weak and dead sounding.

Not trying to be rude or anything, but i never even bother with sendspace or places where i have to download it first on my PC... i want a stream of the song only most of the time.
