Oh what a great weekend it has been. I got a call last night from my mom saying my dad is having a double bypass Monday morning! :yow: So now I gotta scramble to get my car road worthy for the 1200 mile trip......good thing I ain't gonna be too busy at work this week!

Thanks guys! He had the surgery this morning, and they ended up doing a triple instead of a double bypass. He came through just fine. Luckily he had no damage, and no disease in there to complicate things. Pretty damn good for a man that is pushin 60 and was a pack a day smoker for most of those! And I nixed the idea of driving when I found a round trip ticket for $150. I don't think I could hitch hike that cheap!

Cool! Now you can spend your time with your family instead of in the car. That rawks. Glad to hear your Dad is OK. Tell him best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Amen to that! Its not really a bad drive, but 16 hours or more in a little sports car doesn't exactly do wonders for my back and ass. Thanks for your words, and rest assured that there will be someone roaming around central Kansas with an Iron Maidens shirt on! :headbang:

Just put on the Cannonball Run soundtrack, think like Burt, and you'd be set for a nice drive! :)
I did a road trip once when I picked up a truckload of film from Kansas City to Phx, and it was fairly boring. Especially along the Texas panhandle, passing the slaughterhouses, the stink stuck with us for a while! So glad the plane ticket thingie worked out for ya!

That part of Texas is about as exciting as watching turtles screw. Nothing to see really, and it seems to take forever! If at all possible, I try to make that leg of the trip at night. Better to see nothing at night than nothing during the day. At least when its pitch black out I can imagine passing something of interest........

I'm bAAAAaaaack! The old man is doing good. He's looking better every day. Hope he doesn't have to go through that again. One other thing that sucks is he just bought a brand new motorcycle, and can't ride it untill the beginning of the year. He's thinking of temporarily giving it to his freind so he won't be tempted to jump on a little early. A couple years ago he broke his collarbone (fell off his bike), and started riding earlier than he should of, and rebroke it (hit a tree. it's more common for him to do that than it sounds!). I think he's making the right decision on this one........
