Katatonia

Discouraged Ones is excellent.

I have heard all of The Great Cold Distance (announcer overlaid promo) and am definitely buying it when it comes out- a great album imo.

Wrong again. Musical preference is subjective, but most will disagree that there are hard rock groups that sound like Katatonia.

You need to go even further back in time. "Dance of December Souls", "For Funerals To Come" and "Brave Murder Day" are great albums.

that's also the case with me, when i hear BWP, Deliverance, Damnation and Ghost Reveries...
i'd rate any Katatonia album from BMD onwards to Viva Emptines over these four Opeth releases

Katatonia is the best band ever, Buy everything but maybe get Viva Emptiness and Brave Murder Day first (Although My favorite might be Discouraged Ones.) The Great Cold Distance is an amazing album too.

I said MOST people. Of course there are people like you, who think that u2 and deftones, opposite bands, have something in common with a band.

I agree with above post - HELL YEAH!

Song's like Soil's Song and Deliberation I simply just can't get enough of right now. I mean, I think this new album just MAY eclipse LFDGD as my favourite from the band.

If you like Opeth, you'll like Brave Murder Day. Probably.
Its a great album, you may recognise the vocals ;)

Then get Viva Emptiness for the new style Katatonia. Its good stuff.
