Keep live music live!

OK, so my opinion is 'not cool', alright I'm fine with that. I forgot your opinion is the only correct opinion to have. Sure, I'm all over that concept. Dig, there are no 'right' or 'wrong' opinions here. Opinions are just personal preferences that's all. And yes all of us have heard in exact detail over and over again your opinion on this subject, so no need to repeat it anymore. Just because some of us don't happen to agree with you does not make us uncool, aliens, geeks or dweebs... unless we ourselves choose to be. Alrighty then... I'm outta heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Hey Ned, I totally respect the skill involved in syncing a band to a recording. I'm a drummer, and the first time I had to do this it threw me for a big loop. My opinion on this matter is based entirely on the fact that, in my experience onstage (>200 concerts under my belt) and off, the connection between the audience and the band is diminished because a) the band is restricted by and must pay a lot of attention to the electronic sequence, reducing their ability to play off each other and the audience in the heat of the moment, and b) the audience tends to get more into the music if they have a 2-way visual connection with the performers - ALL the performers, not only the few who are playing in real time. Clearly not everyone agrees with this, but also clearly I'm not alone in this belief, and it's obvious that people in my camp are generally cooler.

Nope, I'm afraid that not agreeing with me makes you whatever I decide you are.
Seriously, did that not come across as a joke, or are we just feeling a wee bit defensive today?

"...and it's obvious that people in my camp are generally cooler"
Your words, not mine. And BTW I'm no where near p.o.'d about this subject, just pointing out the above quote as being way out there that's all. We all enjoy what we enjoy, have our own opinions, and live life the way we want to, all I'm saying is there's no right or wrong opinion to this subject. Hopefully we can at least agree on that, or maybe even agree to disagree.

Pyramaze absolutely did use taped vocals. So much in fact that I was pissed by the end of the set. Did Vision Divine use tracked vocals? Absolutely not--they had some background intro stuff but all vocals on all songs were Luppi. He sounded so good you might have THOUGHT he was using tracks...but that was all Lupi.

No offense but you have no idea what you heard if you think VD did not use backing tracks. Luppi was indeed the best singer of the weekend in my opinion but many of his harmony vocals on the CD accompanied him during the performance. I am a recording/sound engineer by trade and believe me, backing tracks were used.

err, yes, that was the joke to which I referred. You were not actually supposed to feel less cool or get defensive. I humbly apologize and accept full responsibility if you did. Next time I'll insert more ridiculous smileys to make it obvious for those who don't like their humour served dry. :p  :goggly: :) :Saint: :kickass: :Smug: :ill: :yuk: :Smokin:

Just messin' with you. Keep rockin'.

OK sounds good, just so you understand I am the superior one on this planet ha ha  :goggly: :)  :tickled: :D :Spin:
