Kemper Blind Test - Can you tell the difference?

This one is a lot closer than the previous one. Tbh, while on the previous video I clearly heard the changes without even watching, this time it's impossible to tell a notable difference. Both sound just as good.

I think purple is kemper in the second test. I could definitely hear a difference (unlike in Lasse's test, which was very accurately refined), but it would be so subtle that I can't tell which one sounds better honestly, to the point that I wouldn't even care anymore.

More profiling happening today!

I could tell you that I guessed the first one right and preferred the real amp before I read the result, but who's gonna believe that... :D

It was the laid-back-in-the-mix thing that was mentioned. The thing I THINK I've noticed from most Kemper/amp shootouts was that the Kemper usually had stuffier lows/lowmids, which makes it stand out from the mix a bit. That can be a good thing, but I think the real amp blended in better in this example.

I will add though that the differences are SO minute that they would never keep me from using a Kemper, and I must honestly say that if I wasn't listening for them, I wouldn't even have noticed the changes.

I'll take a shot at the second one:
Prefer the purple, and I think it's the real amp, based on the low mid thing. Kind of hoping I'm wrong!

Trevoire520, this is tough! It could be either one for me.
Blind tests are always fun and a good reality check/eye opener.
The kemper have had me fooled many times when playing in the next room not knowing if it was the reference or kemper they switched to.

Some suggestions if you're gonna make us guess again in another video.
1. Don't reveal the answer so quick, wait a week or more.
Still, in these kinds of tests some will always pop in after the result is revealed and say it was obvious.
2. We can't help hearing with our eyes so it would be even more difficult if you used more colors and sometimes swapped the source order around so it could be kemper, amp kemper, amp, amp....... on the same track.
Or do what Lasse Lammert did in his first a-b blindtest and don't have any color at all. No one got it right.
This way the listener must guess at what intervals the kemper or amp is playing without color guide.
Cheers! :kickass:

That is kinda pointless imo, cause at that particular test I thought the difference I heared was because he just played a different note, or picked different on higher strings, when indeed it was the kemper parts.
If it doesn't play at least the same thing it gets really impossible to tell, cause you're not really knowing what you're hearing, even if you spot something.

Which only goes to show how freaking close this unit gets, if it can get mistaken for nuances in playing (at least for me).

Absolutely. That seconds test with the constant switching made my head spin :D
Picking the guitar at a slightly different part of the string or moving the microphone a millimeter would probably cause a bigger change to the sound.

So goodbye real amps then, RED sounded better by far..

it lacks bass, so it seems to sound clearer but it definitively sounds less dynamic. imho the real amp has way more "stuff in there" it sounds much more alive, dynamic and yes, even it's "mudier frequency wise" it sounds clearer and punchier to me. i am ahaving the same problem with my axe-fx II,
so i am not bashig the kemper :)

So The kemper :
- "sounds better by far" by crillemannen
- "sounds tighter" bu infest
- "is more dynamic and less smeary" by mickrich
- "also has a wider stereo image" by mickrich
- "sounds better to my ears. Felt more ready, clearer more defined and wider." by crillemannen
- "is more immediately punchy" by guitarfishbay
- has "a bit fatter low end" by Max Morton ....

So ... The KEMPER IS FAR BETTER :D
